Tasty dinner at Zazu
Tonight I had a great dinner with my daughter at Zazu kitchen + farm in Sebastopol, Sonoma. Two friends recommended Zazu and I booked our table some weeks ago. Lucky I did that. The restaurant was fully booked tonight. Zazu is run by Duskie Estes and John Stewart. Both were on sight this evening.
Started out with snacks and starters. Bacon popcorn, bacon dates, ribs and grains paradise salami. All marvelous! You could tell it was a happy pig from Carlton Farms. To this a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from Preston, Dry Creek Valley. Crisp, dry and hint of spring flowers and lime.
For mains – Ravioli with tomatoes and corn and Chicken with pear, garlic and pistachios. A glass of Pinot Noir from County Line. Earthy yet smooth with nice fruit.
So far great food and service. The ambience outstanding.
Sadly I didn’t really enjoy the desserts. Meringue pie in jar and shortbread with strawberry and icecream. Didn’t feel like the kitchen gave it all when cooking the desserts and I didn’t get the same quality feeling as with starters and mains. Even so, overall Zazu is a great place. Don’t miss to visit when in Sonoma.
I would love to visit again!
